History
The Department of Physics was initiated in 1954 as a separate department, for
B. Sc. General Courses, affiliated from Bihar University. Later in 1961, It was got in the Jurisdiction of
Ranchi University, followed by Kolhan University, Chaibasa 2009. B. Sc. Honours Course was started in 1972.
Further M. Sc. Physics Course was started in 1986.
Academics
The department currently offers B. Sc. General & Honours courses and M. Sc. Physics
Course in Physics. In addition our faculty members are actively involved in supervising the Ph. D. Scholars of
Kolhan University.
Research
The department is actively involved in research across frontier areas of Physics
that involve both fundamental and applied sciences including interdisciplinary avenues. We perform active
research spanning the complexities of X-Ray Astronomy, X-Ray Instrumentation, Material Science, Computational
Physics, Non-linear Dynamics & Chaos, nano-materials etc.
